Join WSP as an Assistant Project Manager (Buildings) and contribute to landmark projects across the globe. You’ll work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-value and complex infrastructure projects for the Department for Education and similar clients.
About the RoleOur PMCM Build team is ready to hire Assistant Project Managers to support the delivery of complex infrastructure projects. You will demonstrate effective support for project leadership and proactive management skills, focusing on programme, cost and quality control for internal and external deliverables.
Key Responsibilities- Supporting the management of projects from RIBA 1 to 6, providing clients with a consultancy project management service and advising as needed throughout the project.
- Supporting the development of plans and strategies to successfully deliver the project objectives.
- Supporting and managing the project team.
- Supporting the identification and resolution of differences between individuals and/or interest groups.
- Supporting the Lead Consultant to agree contracts on behalf of the client, liaising with their legal representatives, monitoring compliance, and managing variances.
- Supporting the Lead Consultant in producing Feasibility Reports, managing progress and delivering a high‑quality report to the client.
- Monitoring and reporting on progress against agreed programmes at all stages, and agreeing strategies to stay on programme or implementing mitigation measures when timescales vary.
- Experience of public sector projects working with Local and Central Government agencies, especially in Education.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations applicable to infrastructure projects, particularly CDM regulations.
- Experience across the project life‑cycle from Feasibility Study to Operation.
- Experience supporting the procurement of contractors, developing contractual documents, and achieving contract close on projects.
- Experience working with a multidisciplinary team on behalf of a client and liaising with a diverse range of specialisms.
- Experience in developing and managing programmes, identifying issues, and creating solutions to resolve time‑related challenges.
- Experience in identifying and managing risk and developing strategies to mitigate outcomes.
- An understanding of project cost management and maintaining best value for the client while ensuring quality.
- Chartership to MAPM, MCIOB, MRICS, or equivalent is desirable.
