Manager, Product Safety & Toxicology - Global

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

DECIEM is seeking a Manager to join our Regulatory Affairs team to lead, recruit, train, and manage the Product Safety team responsible for the evaluation and registration of DECIEM finished products
. The successful candidate will manage the product safety program and be a resource in the evaluation of both individual raw material and marketed finished products
. A background in toxicology is essential.

This position is a full-time permanent position based out of our Head Office in Liberty Village and offers a hybrid work schedule of 3-days a week in-office and 2-days a week work-from-home.

PAY RANGE

The anticipated base salary for this position is $70,000 - $90,000.

Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location.

WHAT YOU’D BE DOING IN THIS ROLE

  • Review literature data for individual ingredients and develop Margin of Safety Calculations.
  • Support and understand the calculation of exposure assessments for consumer products.
  • Review and interpretation of systemic toxicity studies.
  • Review and interpretation of dermal toxicity studies and related endpoints and assessment of finished product testing.
  • Possess an in-depth understanding of the assessment of irritation and sensitization related endpoints to examine the impact of individual substances and formulated finished products.
  • Review of work conducted to support industrial chemical and environmental regulations (CEPA, AICIS, TSCA) and therefore, an understanding of environmental toxicity studies is an asset.
  • Responsible for the regulatory review of raw materials and finished products to ensure compliance with global cosmetics regulations or NHP/OTC regulations as applicable.
  • Responsible for the regulatory review of all documentation contained within the Product Information File for newly marketed products.
  • Management of the team responsible for compliance with CEPA regulatory requirements for imported raw materials and similar programs (AICIS and REACh) for globally imported finished products.
  • Responsible for leading a team of risk assessors this includes mentoring and coaching staff to ensure their continued growth within areas of specialty.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED TO GET THE JOB DONE

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (toxicology) is required.
  • 5+ years of experience in safety and risk assessments.
  • 5+ years of experience in regulatory affairs including direct experience in the submission and shepherding of product or ingredient registrations.
  • 3+ years of leadership or management experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in regulatory affairs, focus on Canadian, USA, and European Union regulatory schemes.
