The post is within the Service Delivery Team and will report directly to the Area Manager Response and Resilience.

The Resilience and Business Continuity Manager plays a key part in our responsibility for leading, implementing and communicating Local and National Resilience and Business Continuity and incorporating this into our plans, policies, procedures and training.

Under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004, as a Category One responder, we have a duty to plan, prepare for and respond to emergencies with other responders and partners as part of our Local Resilience Forum.
The role is responsible for ensuring the Service maintains its responsibilities in line with these duties.

The Resilience and Business Continuity Manager must ensure that National Operational Guidance relevant to the role is embedded within the Service, and that compliance with the relevant Fire Standards are maintained.

The Resilience and Business Continuity Manager will be required to develop and lead projects as necessary under Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service’s Community Risk Management Plan (CRMP), Response Strategy and His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services assessment of Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service.

The role will work with managers across the Service to deliver team objectives aligned to the vision and priorities of the service and contributing to wider Council priorities.

This position will be subject to a standard criminal record disclosure check.

Working Pattern:

This a full-time role of 37hrs per week Monday - Friday. The post holder will be required to work flexibly, with a hybrid combination of office and home working.

What you’ll need to succeed:
  • Proven evidence of continuous professional and/or academic development to a level conducive to the role.

  • Clear understanding of National direction, Council, wider Directorate and Service, specifically in relation to Business Continuity, Local and National Resilience and National Fire Chiefs Council Sector work.

  • Experience or equivalent qualification (e.g. Certificate of Business Continuity Institute) in Project Management Business Continuity.

  • Management experience and/or qualification conducive to the requirements of the role.

  • A proven record and experiences of successful change management, delivering new working policies and practices alongside cultural and structural change.
