Fleet Maintenance Manager
As Fleet & Plant Manager, you will oversee the full lifecycle of fleet and plant assets, from acquisition and maintenance to compliance and disposal. You’ll work closely with internal teams and external providers to ensure all vehicles and equipment meet legal and operational standards. You’ll also play a key role in budget planning, Cap Ex forecasting, and performance reporting, while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Duties- Ensure full compliance with company policies, ‘O’ Licence requirements, and legal standards (MOTs, LOLER/PUWER, ADR, driver hours).
- Manage fleet and plant budgets, Cap Ex planning, and asset utilisation.
- Manage maintenance to schedules, defect repairs, and accurate record-keeping.
- Lead investigations into incidents and liaise with external maintenance providers.
- Maintain SAP records and ensure accurate asset data.
- Audit fleet and plant annually and manage disposals.
- Minimise spot hires and maximise utilisation of owned assets.
- Attend monthly management meetings and report on compliance, Cap Ex, utilisation, and spend.
- Manage driver compliance, driver's hours, licence mandates, and tracking reports.
- Authorise requisitions and liaise with suppliers for maintenance and repairs.
- Communicate health, safety, and wellbeing updates to the team.
- Conduct performance reviews and identify training needs.
- Foster a positive, professional culture aligned with company values.
- Deliver toolbox talks and ensure HS&E compliance across teams.
- Proven experience managing mixed vehicle fleets and construction plant (excavators, telehandlers, dumpers).
- Strong understanding of compliance and maintenance standards.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Hands‑on approach with a commitment to service excellence.
- Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) – essential.
