Job Overview
Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking a Senior Manager of Strategic Planning within the Sector Strategy organization. The Senior Manager will be an integral part of a fast-paced and dynamic team providing analytical, planning, and execution support for sector- and division-level strategic planning activities.
This role will manage and execute projects across a wide range of responsibilities, including market analysis / forecasting, strategic competitive assessment, portfolio analysis, business case development, and all phases of inorganic strategy (mergers / acquisitions / divestitures, strategic partnerships, and strategic equity investments). The Senior Manager will lead special studies that may include the management of outside consultant teams; monitor and assess competitive and other market developments that may impact our strategic direction;
help to author a bi-weekly newsletter distributed to executives throughout the sector; and help to build the capabilities of the NGMS Strategy function through mentoring of staff analysts, collaboration with related teams, and development of new tools, processes and products.
This role will report to the Director of Strategic Assessment, Planning, and Development and will be located in McLean, VA or Linthicum, MD. Remote work arrangements will be considered.

- Provide analytical, planning, and execution support for sector- and division-level strategic planning activities.
- Lead market analysis, forecasting, competitive assessment, portfolio analysis, and business case development.
- Manage special studies, including coordination with outside consultants as needed.
- Monitor and assess market developments that may impact strategic direction.
- Prepare communications such as a bi-weekly sector executive newsletter.
- Develop tools, processes, and products to enhance the NGMS Strategy function; mentor staff analysts and collaborate with related teams.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the sector and corporation.
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 8 years of experience OR a Master’s degree with a minimum of 6 years of experience
- A minimum of 4 years of experience specifically in market and competitive assessment, financial analysis, M&A processes, and business case development
- Ability to collect, analyze, and synthesize market, competitive, business, and financial insights from multiple sources
- Strong communication (oral and written) and problem-solving skills
- Robust work ethic, excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and the capacity to function with minimal guidance
- Knowledge of and experience in the Aerospace and Defense industry
- Knowledge of government budgeting and acquisition processes
- Knowledge of defense electronics and information systems markets / competitors
- Strong MS PowerPoint and Excel skills
- US Citizen and able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance
- Experience in strategic planning, corporate development, management consulting, investment banking, or private equity
- MBA degree
- Experience in a management role
- Advanced MS PowerPoint and Excel skills
- Current DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance

Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers, including the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
