the Job

This role is responsible for leading the Supply Chain Volume Planning & Optimization team, ensuring end-to-end alignment between MP&A, Merchandising, Transportation, and Distribution. The Sr. Manager owns the strategy, governance, and execution of volume planning across inbound and outbound supply chains while driving optimization initiatives that reduce total supply chain cost and protect service.

The Sr. Manager serves as the primary strategic conduit between MP&A and Supply Chain, translating business strategies, promotional changes, and urgent demand shifts into executable supply chain plans. This role sets the vision for volume smoothing, cost modeling, replenishment optimization impacting the Supply Chain, and capacity planning while developing team capabilities and influencing senior leadership decisions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy & Leadership

  • Lead and develop a team of Supply Chain Volume Analysts and Sr. Analysts, setting clear objectives, priorities, and performance expectations.
  • Define the long-term vision and roadmap for supply chain volume planning, forecasting, and cost optimization capabilities.
  • Act as the senior point of contact between MP&A, Merchandising, Transportation, and Distribution for volume-related decisions and trade-offs.

Volume Planning & Forecasting

  • Own the development and execution of enterprise supply chain volume plans across Units, Lines, UPL, Cube, and Cube per Unit.
  • Ensure alignment between merchandising strategies, financial plans, and supply chain capacity constraints.
  • Oversee forecasting cadence, scenario planning, and rapid response processes for last-minute or urgent business changes.

Cost Optimization & Financial Partnership

  • Partner closely with MP&A to evaluate and optimize total supply chain costs through replenishment strategies, inbound and outbound smoothing, and transportation efficiencies.
  • Lead analysis and recommendations related to:
    • Inbound and outbound volume smoothing
    • Truckload vs. LTL optimization
    • Inbound truck utilization
    • Rounding profiles and order cycle frequency
    • Replenishment cadence and buy quantities
  • Translate analytical insights into clear executive-level recommendations and decisions.

Capacity & Network Optimization

  • Ensure DC and Transportation capacity plans reflect current and future volume expectations.
  • Guide holiday and peak planning strategies, including contingency plans such as bypass and third-party solutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement in how volume and capacity risks are identified, communicated, and mitigated.

Reporting & Communication

  • Oversee development of executive-ready reporting that provides visibility into volume trends, capacity risks, and cost performance.
  • Communicate complex trade-offs clearly to senior leadership, enabling informed decision-making.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in supply chain planning, demand planning, forecasting, or logistics.
  • 3+ years of people leadership experience strongly preferred.
