Customs Trade Specialist

Responsible for coordination of the documentation required by US Customs/Government Agencies for entry of goods into the US on behalf of importers.

Provide excellent customer service.

Process commodities identified for specialized processing to reduce the risk of liquidated damages and penalties through classification and proper duty preference applications.

Obtain correct classification of goods for customs release using databases, SOPs, tariff books, internet, or customs sources.

Perform data entry and processing of import-related documentation for submission to US Customs, including handling all PGAs (Participating Government Agencies).

Maintain and update all shipment documentation in compliance with record-keeping requirements.

Adhere to all international importing and exporting regulations.

Collaborate with internal staff, departments, other Fed Ex operating companies, customers, and government agencies to deliver high-quality service.

Process agency brokerage shipments.

Handle remote filings as needed.

Perform entry reconciliations when required.

Ensure compliance with all government and organizational policies.

Follow up on Customs matters and resolve issues promptly.

Review entries as necessary.

Perform other duties as assigned. Paid training provided.

Qualifications: HS Diploma or GED required. Minimum 6 months of work experience; 12 months preferred. Data entry/keyboard skills required. CCS and/or Broker's license preferred. Proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, and office equipment. Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Ability to handle high-volume, time-sensitive work independently and use multiple systems and reference materials. Knowledge of customs regulations and harmonized tariff schedules preferred.

Preferred Qualifications: The shift is Mon-Fri 8am-4:30pm. Position offers a variable remote work schedule with some work from home and occasional reporting to Indianapolis, IN. Candidates must reside near Indianapolis.

Pay Transparency: Starting pay is $17/hour for external candidates.
