As a Police Liability Management Analyst, you will:
- Serve as primary point of PPB contact to Risk Management liability team and City Attorney tort litigation team.
- Create new claim files in the database and input all required fields; maintain extensive claim files with notes, journal entries, action plans for all claims through closure.
- Review all police tort claims to determine if police actions are consistent with PPB policies and directives. Track trending issues and identify root causes. Consider changes in policies to reduce financial and legal exposures.
- Provide guidance and information to City Attorney’s Office and City Risk Management on police operations, tactics, policies, directives to guide the resolution of tort claims and lawsuits via settlement, denial or aggressive legal defense.
- Confer regularly with Risk and City Attorney staff to evaluate and strategize litigated claims, establish settlement options and values. Review motions filed with the courts. Represent PPB in mediations and judicial settlement conferences. Attend depositions and trials, provide updates to command staff.
