Capistrano, CA law firm is seeking an experienced full-time Labor & Employment Associate Attorney - Labor & Employment LawOur client is a growing litigation-focused law firm that is seeking a Labor & Employment Associate Attorney to join its expanding team. This role offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated employment matters while receiving meaningful mentorship, hands-on responsibility, and exposure to both litigation and strategic advisory work.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience handling employment-related matters on behalf of companies, or a strong interest and demonstrated enthusiasm for developing a career in labor and employment law.
- 1+ year of dedicated experience in California labor and employment law.
- Active member of the State Bar of California, in good standing.
- Strong issue-spotting, analytical, and advocacy skills.
- Excellent legal writing and oral communication abilities.
- Professional demeanor with the ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Ability to work out of our office, with flexibility for hybrid or remote work arrangements.
The position involves managing a diverse portfolio of California and federal labor and employment matters, including:
- Class action and PAGA defense involving alleged Labor Code violations
- Individual claims under FEHA, the California Labor Code, and other employment statutes
- Common law claims including wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation
- Preventative advice and counsel to help clients mitigate risk and avoid litigation
- Lead and manage employment-related investigations.
- Analyze claims and allegations to develop effective litigation and defense strategies.
- Handle all aspects of discovery, including drafting and responding to written discovery.
- Draft pleadings and manage motion practice, including motions to compel arbitration, motions for summary judgment, motions to remove to federal court, and other substantive motions.
- Take and defend depositions of parties and witnesses.
- Appear at court hearings and proceedings.
- Provide timely, strategic, and practical advice and counsel to clients.
- Manage cases from inception through settlement, trial, arbitration, or appeal.
- Communicate consistently and professionally with clients and internal team members.
