The Scottsdale City Attorney’s Office is seeking a highly detail-oriented Paralegal to respond to Public Records Requests on behalf of the city. This position requires exceptional attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to perform extensive, repetitive document review. The Paralegal will work directly with internal city departments to gather and process records, as well as serve as a resource to other departments with questions about red actions and responding to requests.
The Paralegal will spend much of their time carefully reading and reviewing large volumes of records to identify and redact privacy, confidential, and personal identifying information. Candidates should be organized and comfortable with methodical, detail-intensive work that requires sustained focus and concentration. Knowledge of or experience with public records processes and laws preferred but not required.
Paralegal: $28.84 - $38.95 hourly
• Senior Paralegal: $33.37 - $45.09 hourly
Anticipated starting salary may be up to mid-point depending on candidate’s experience and internal equity. The midpoint salary for a Paralegal is $33.90
/hour. The midpoint salary for a Senior Paralegal is $39.23
/hour.
- 12 Paid Holidays, including 1 Floating Holiday

Education and ExperienceParalegal:
- Associate degree in a legal assistant / paralegal program or a related field from an accredited educational institution.
- Three years of paralegal experience OR five years as a legal secretary/legal assistant.
- An equivalent combination of education and job-related experience may substitute for the educational requirements on a year-for-year basis.
Senior Paralegal:
- Associate degree in a legal assistant / paralegal program or a related field from an accredited educational institution.
- Five years of paralegal experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and job-related experience may substitute for the educational requirements on a year-for-year basis.
- Civil litigation experience in a government environment.
- Criminal litigation experience in a government environment.
- Experience responding to public records requests.
- Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during active employment, regardless of remote work status.
Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on department/section assignment.
