LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a respected law firm in Los Angeles to hire an experienced Senior Litigation Secretary with a strong background in appellate filings and complex civil litigation support. This role is ideal for a seasoned legal secretary who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is highly detail‑oriented, and understands the nuances of both state and federal court procedures.
About the Role
The Senior Litigation Secretary will provide high‑level support to a team of attorneys handling appellate matters and ongoing litigation. This includes managing sophisticated filings, preparing post‑trial documents, coordinating deadlines, and ensuring compliance with all court rules. The position offers a hybrid work model, working closely with attorneys remotely and onsite as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, format, and submit appellate briefs, motions, writs, and related filings across state and federal courts.
- Manage post‑trial motions, including filing, calendaring, and coordinating with attorneys on deadlines and requirements.
- Draft, proofread, and finalize litigation documents with extreme accuracy and attention to detail.
- Maintain attorney calendars, track court deadlines, and manage litigation timelines.
- Assist with trial preparation tasks, hearing binders, exhibits, and electronic filings.
- Coordinate with court personnel, service vendors, and internal legal teams.
- Handle administrative tasks such as time entry, billing edits, document management, and correspondence.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of litigation secretary experience in a law firm setting.
- Extensive experience with appellate filings in both California state and federal courts.
- Strong understanding of civil litigation processes from pre‑litigation through appeal.
- Solid knowledge of state and federal court rules, including filing guidelines and deadlines.
- Exceptional writing, proofreading, and document formatting skills.
- Ability to prioritize competing deadlines and manage high‑volume workloads.
- Professional communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment.
- Salary range: $100,000 – $115,000, depending on experience.
