We are seeking a mid-level Civil Litigation Associate for a part-time or full-time, primarily on-site role located in New Bedford, Massachusetts with flexibility for occasional remote work. The Civil Litigation Associate will be responsible for handling client matters from inception to completion, and providing legal advice, counseling, and representation to clients in a variety of practice areas.
Key responsibilities for our ideal candidate may include the following:
- conducting factual and legal research;
- drafting legal arguments, pleadings, and motions;
- preparing and responding to discovery requests;
- taking and defending depositions;
- preparing for and attending court hearings and other proceedings;
- trial preparation, strategy, and presentation;
- assisting clients with permitting matters for land development, including representing clients before various city/town boards and state agencies;
- reviewing contracts and other business documents;
- assisting in performing due diligence on matters in our transactional practice areas;
- and effectively communicating with our team, our clients, other attorneys, professionals, and court personnel.
This is a mid-level position that is generally best suited for a candidate who has 3+ years of civil litigation experience, a demonstrated interest and ability to take on community leadership and business development responsibilities, and who genuinely enjoys helping people and developing long-term client relationships.

Qualifications- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and bar admission in Massachusetts required; additional admission in Rhode Island and/or New Hampshire is highly valued
- Excellent analytical skills with experience in legal research and writing, including drafting pleadings, motions, and briefs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and experience working both independently and in a collaborative team environment
- A deep commitment to honesty, integrity, collegiality, and authenticity both personally and professionally
- Demonstrated openness to engaging thoughtfully and respectfully with differing perspectives while maintaining effective, client-centered advocacy
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure
