A. Marra, PLLC, a growing, dynamic four-attorney firm in Yonkers, NY, we are seeking a highly organized, responsible Paralegal/Legal Secretary with experience to assist the firm with legal matters involving Wills, Trusts, Estate Administration, and Estate Planning. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who can work independently and who enjoys working with people. The office has a convenient location.

    Annual $60,000.00 to $80,000.00 depending upon experience, plus bonus.

Requirements
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the legal field (Estate Planning and/or Estate Probate/Administration).
  • Must respond with both a cover letter and resume.

Responsibilities and Duties

Assisting attorneys with:

  • Preparing legal documents such as Powers of Attorney, Trusts, and related estate planning documents using MS Word
  • Will execution ceremonies
  • Organization of information about various parties involved in a particular case
  • Organization of information on a client’s or decedent’s assets, such as bank statements or income tax returns
  • Speaking to court personnel regarding outstanding cases
  • Electronic filing of documents, via NYSCEF
  • Preparing Informal Estate Accountings
Administrative Functions
  • Greeting clients and helping them to feel comfortable, valued, and welcomed
  • Answering telephones in a courteous, professional, and upbeat manner
  • Scheduling client appointments, closings, motions, etc.
  • Helping to keep the office neat and clean
  • Filing of legal and financial documentation
  • Scheduling community events for the attorneys
  • Opening, sorting, and delivering mail to the appropriate parties
  • Signing attorneys up for CLEs, networking events, etc.
  • Opening new files
  • Reviewing the daily calendar with attorneys and staff
  • Depositing the mail with the USPS
Other Requirements for New Hire
  • Willing to dress and carry themselves in a professional manner
  • Good telephone and people skills
  • Willing to submit to a background and/or drug test
  • No visible tattoos
  • No nose rings, tongue rings, or similar excessive jewelry
  • The ability to walk up and down two (2) flights of stairs daily
  • Ability to lift up to twenty (20) lbs
Technical Skills
  • MS Office with particular proficiency in Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of Clio or similar Practice Management Software is a plus
  • Adobe
  • Able to type at least 60 words a minute
  • Able to use a computer, typewriter, copy machine, and various software programs
  • Able to speak and write clearly
  • Excellent phone manner
  • Willing to learn software such as Quick Books, Quicken, Hot Docs, and Clio
