Overview

Work Schedule: This role has hybrid schedule flexibility based on business need, allowing 1 day of remote work/week when possible

Whiteman Osterman & Hanna LLP seeks a Director of Operations to help guide the work of our firm in a period of notable growth.

As the senior leader managing multiple teams, you will bring a steady focus to all projects within the firm’s non-legal departments. We’re looking for a candidate with the ability to forecast the needs of a given project many months out, with the sense of vision and ability to delegate in order to accomplish the established goals. You will oversee multiple departments, including: intake, records, facilities, office support, library services, and administrative support.

This role also oversees the tracking of CLE/admission requirements for attorneys and paralegals. You will collaborate closely with the Director of Human Resources, General Counsel, and our Executive Committee, while reporting to the COO/CFO. The ability to synthesize strategic direction from firm leadership and translate that into clear and purposeful action among the teams you oversee is essential.

Education and Experience
  • 8+ years of relevant Operations experience required
  • Experience leading robust, cross-functional teams required
  • Law firm or other professional service firm experience preferred
  • Records management experience strongly preferred
  • Combination of relevant experience, education, and skills will be considered
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Budget and financial management
  • Change management
  • Project management
  • People leadership, supervision, and delegation
  • Critical thinking and strategic decision-making
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong Excel skills
  • Familiarity with online legal research software such as Westlaw or Lexis
  • Experience with document management systems (DMS), such as Net Documents, preferred
