Position:Senior Assistant Legal Counsel – PACE Program
Reports to the Director of Legal Services and is responsible for providing legal services to OSBA members through the Property and Casualty Coverage for Education (PACE) insurance trust. The role includes legal advice, training, claim representation and support to OSBA and PACE departments.
Salary Range: $ – $ (commensurate with experience). Work Location:
Salem, Oregon with hybrid remote work options available.
- Provide legal advice to member schools and Education Service Districts on issues such as labor and employment, public records, student records, contract review, waivers, student disciplinary procedures, and potential legal liability.
Primarily sedentary work with occasional standing, light carrying, manual dexterity, bending, and lifting. Requires frequent driving and statewide travel, with limited out‑of‑state travel on occasion.
Minimum Job Qualifications- Law degree from an ABA‑accredited law school.
- Active member of the Oregon State Bar or eligible to be licensed within a short period.
- Background in employment law required; experience with public sector representation and education law highly preferred.
- 10+ years of practice as an attorney or 5+ years in school law required; experience advising on Title VII, ORS 659A.030, protected leaves, disability accommodations, student records, and civil rights preferred.
- Experience in civil litigation and knowledge of Oregon state and federal court rules preferred.
