Remote Arbitration Counsel — Misclassification Expert

Position Summary

Ogletree Deakins has an opportunity for a California-licensed attorney to serve as limited-scope hearing counsel on single-claimant misclassification arbitration matters. The engagement is narrowly tailored to preparing for and conducting arbitration hearings on a rolling basis for a large, multinational technology client. The arbitration process will consist of:

• Preparing for the hearing using a pre-generated opening statement and cross examination outline
• Delivering a pre-generated opening statement
• Conducting cross-examination
• Addressing evidentiary issues during the hearing

All case materials and a hearing outline will be provided, and preparation time will be limited to this defined scope.

This is an excellent opportunity for attorneys who work well independently and are passionate about providing legal service within a sophisticated practice.

• Active California law license in good standing (and jurisdiction of residence if required).
• One year of litigation experience is preferred; relevant experience through internships or similar case management may be considered.
• Strong oral advocacy, arbitration presence, and time management.
• Ability to quickly internalize provided materials and execute a focused plan.
• Commitment to limited-scope representation parameters.
• High level of self-motivation and responsiveness in a remote setting.

In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the expected salary range for this Colorado position is between $200 to $500 per hearing. In accordance with New York State’s Wage Transparency Law, the expected salary range for this New York State position is between $200 to $500 per hearing. In accordance with California’s amended labor code as stated in Senate Bill 1162, the expected salary range for this California position is between $200 to $500 per hearing.

In accordance with the Washington Equal Pay and Opportunities act, the expected salary range for this Washington position is between $200 to $500 per hearing. In accordance with the Wage Transparency Omnibus Amendment Act, the expected salary range for this DC position is between $200 to $500 per hearing. In accordance with Maryland’s Equal Pay for Equal Work-Wage Range Transparency Law, the expected salary range for this Baltimore position is between $200 to $500 per hearing.

In accordance with Illinois Equal Pay Act Transparency Notice, the expected salary range for this Illinois position is between $200 to $500 per hearing. In accordance with Massachusetts Frances Perkins Workplace Equity Act, the expected salary range for this Massachusetts position is between $200 to $500 per  accordance with Minnesota Pay Transparency Law, the expected salary range for this Minnesota position is between $200 to $500 per  accordance with New Jersey Senate Bill 2310, the expected salary range for this New Jersey position is between $200 to $500 per hearing.

Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors as permitted by law. This position qualifies for the benefits below. The Final date to receive applications for this position is July 31, 2026.
