Our client has a Remote Associate Attorney opening with exciting opportunities!

We are seeking a Associate Attorney to join our client's litigation team. This role focuses on managing legal matters from initial client intake through post-judgment remedies in a fast-paced, high-volume practice. You will handle a broad range of bankruptcy, collections, and civil litigation work, including research, drafting, negotiations, and court appearances across Virginia and select jurisdictions within the firm's footprint.

You will independently manage an active caseload, collaborate closely with the Managing Attorney, and ensure all matters are handled with precision, professionalism, and strict compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This fully remote position is based in the Fairfax County / Northern Virginia area, with occasional in-person requirements for hearings, trials, and on-site meetings in courts across Virginia.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage legal matters from initial client intake through resolution and post-judgment remedies in a high-volume practice.
  • Handle a busy litigation docket, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all case-related tasks and deadlines.
  • Conduct thorough legal research, analysis, and drafting of pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and correspondence.
  • Appear in courts across Virginia for hearings, trials, and other proceedings, representing clients with professionalism and preparedness.
  • Evaluate legal and regulatory risks, interpret case law and statutes, and provide clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Negotiate with opposing counsel and other parties to secure favorable resolutions where appropriate.
  • Maintain detailed, organized case files and accurately document all case activity in firm systems.
  • Communicate proactively and effectively with clients, colleagues, and court personnel to move cases forward.
  • Collaborate closely with the Managing Attorney and team members, reporting on case status, outcomes, and strategy.
  • Uphold the firm's core values of High-Quality Work, Effective Communication, and Ownership while staying current on relevant legal developments.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • 0–3 years of experience in bankruptcy, collections, or civil litigation, including participation in court proceedings.
  • Strong ability to analyze complex case law and regulations and provide clear, actionable legal recommendations.
  • Licensed in additional jurisdictions such as GA, SC, TN, FL, MD, MI, OH, or UBE passage is a strong plus but not required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfort working in a technology-driven, remote environment.
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills to manage a high-volume caseload and meet strict deadlines.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a professional, client-focused approach.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to various courts across Virginia and attend occasional on-site meetings as needed.

Preferred

Skills:

  • Experience in bankruptcy, collections, or civil litigation in a high-volume practice setting.
  • Prior exposure to consumer or commercial collections and post-judgment remedies.
  • Familiarity with Virginia state court procedures and local court rules across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Experience appearing in court for motions, hearings, and trials.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills, including drafting pleadings, motions, and memoranda.
  • Proven ability to manage large caseloads while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Comfortable working in a fully remote environment while maintaining responsive communication.
  • Proficiency with case management systems and document management tools in addition to Microsoft Office.
