- California bar license in good standing
- JD from an ABA-accredited law school
- Minimum 2+ years of civil defense litigation experience (preferred areas:
General Liability, Mass Tort, Toxic Tort, Construction Defect, Labor and Employment, and/or insurance defense) - Experience managing up to 20 cases, taking/defending depositions, court appearances, motions, and discovery drafting; mediation and trial experience a plus; mentoring junior associates a plus
- Computer skills: basic knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and internet software;
Microsoft products preferred - Strong self-motivation, ability to work independently, and strong client communication skills
- Oral and Written communication ability; clear, persuasive speaking; clear writing with proper spelling/grammar
- Ability to work with little supervision; prioritize tasks; handle occasional pressure and deadlines
- Ethics: maintain confidentiality of client and firm information
- Draft, review, and respond to petitions/complaints, motions, and written discovery
- Attend hearings and meetings with clients as requested
- Prepare for and attend depositions
- Assist with mediation and trial preparation/participation
- Willingness to bill clients as needed
- Other duties as assigned
- One-on-one mentorship and training by Partners
- Salary range $130k-$250k, depending on experience
- Quarterly bonuses based on billable hours
