Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Associate Attorney to join our growing practice. This is a unique opportunity to work in a firm that truly makes a difference in people's lives. While this is primarily a NY, NJ, remote/hybrid position, the successful candidate must have easy access to New York City and New Jersey for court appearances and client meetings as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent employees in employment law matters including workplace discrimination, sexual harassment, wage theft, and violations of labor laws
  • Handle comprehensive immigration cases including family-based petitions and asylum cases
  • Address the intersection of employment and immigration law, particularly cases where workers face exploitation due to their immigration status
  • Provide counsel to immigrant workers who may be afraid to report workplace violations
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents
  • Engage in litigation, negotiations, and settlement discussions
  • Appear in federal and state courts, immigration courts, arbitration proceedings, and before administrative agencies including USCIS, DOL, and EEOC
  • Work directly with Spanish-speaking clients to understand their cases and provide legal counsel
  • Collaborate on complex cases and strategy development
  • Maintain client relationships and provide exceptional customer service
Required Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Minimum 3 years of legal experience or Willing to Train the right candidate
  • Admitted to practice law in New York State and New Jersey
  • Fluency in Spanish and English (required) - Our client base is predominantly Spanish-speaking
  • Experience in either Employment Law OR Immigration Law (experience in both preferred but not required - we are willing to train in one area)
  • Strong litigation skills and comfort with court appearances
  • Excellent negotiation abilities (or willingness to learn - training provided)
  • Professional demeanor with exceptional client service skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Easy access to New York City and New Jersey for court appearances and meetings
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience representing employees and employers on employment matters
  • Immigration law experience including family-based petitions or asylum cases
  • Understanding of how immigration status affects workplace rights and remedies
  • Familiarity with federal and state employment laws (FLSA, Title VII, NYSHRL, etc.) and immigration law (INA, USCIS procedures)
  • Experience with wage and hour claims, discrimination cases, harassment matters, and immigration violations
  • Experience working with vulnerable immigrant populations
  • Trial experience preferred but not required

Requirements

Must have easy access to New York City (NYC, NY, NJ, areas preferred) for court appearances in both employment and immigration matters. Position is primarily remote but requires flexibility for in-person meetings, court dates, and USCIS appointments. Must be willing and able to appear in New York federal and state courts, as well as immigration courts.
