Overview
Koukol Johnson Schmit and Milone, LLC is a growing firm in Omaha, Nebraska seeking a paralegal or legal assistant who can work up to 40 hours per week, year-round, starting immediately. Pay is negotiable, commensurate with experience, and will start at no less than $25/hour. This position is available to start immediately and will be held open until filled.
Responsibilities- Help the firm with document creation, research on administrative and compliance needs, litigation support, e-filing, and other tasks related to managing the firm’s daily operations.
- Work regularly in the firm’s practice areas, including: commercial litigation; banking and credit union law; consumer collections; foreclosures and repossessions; bankruptcy and creditor’s rights; contract and business disputes; business formation, transactions, and compliance; all areas of family law; family law mediation; estate planning, trusts, probate, inheritance taxation, and probate and trust litigation; civil litigation in state and federal court; consumer protection and fraud litigation;
and appeals.
- A qualified legal assistant will have strong calendar and client management skills.
- Experience working in law firms is preferred but not required.
- Paralegal or legal assistant who lives in Omaha and can be present in the firm’s office for their scheduled hours each week is preferred but not required.
- The ideal candidate will have: (1) the ability to concisely and effectively communicate complex legal and firm matters in oral and written form; (2) strong work ethic, excellent attention to case details, and action-oriented interest in taking on increased levels of responsibility for client files as needed; (3) effective analytical skills, willingness to learn new areas of the law and administrative expertise, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment;
(4) the ability to interact effectively with senior members of legal teams, associate attorneys, and clients; and (5) familiarity with and skills in the Microsoft Office suite, PDF creation and manipulation platforms like Adobe, and practice management software platforms like Tabs3 and Practice Master.
