Sr. Counsel - CA - Personal Injury Insurance Defense Trial Attorney

Overview

Hickey Smith Dodd is seeking a California Personal Injury Insurance Defense Attorney with significant trial experience. We are a technology-enabled law firm with a nationwide footprint. Our insurance defense practice group has seen significant growth in California over the past few years and our growth is continuing. We are currently seeking a trial attorney with a minimum of 12 years of insurance defense experience, with subject matter expertise defending against general liability, products liability and commercial automobile claims.

Significant first chair jury trial experience is required. Prior experience managing/supervising law firm staff is a plus.

About the firm and environment

Our firm has employed a remote (work-from-home) model for our attorneys for years. Hickey Smith Dodd attorneys are supported by a full staff of paralegals, legal case assistants, docket and calendar clerks, file clerks, etc., some working remotely, some working in a traditional office environment. Our software applications (matter management system, document management system, etc.) are maintained in a cloud-based environment which firm personnel can access from virtually anywhere an internet connection is available.

We are heavily invested in the use of technology to improve the efficacy and efficiency of the practice of law, and our practice is largely paperless. Therefore, candidates should be comfortable using technology in the practice of law and a willingness to learn new technologies.

Responsibilities and qualifications

• Minimum of 12 years of insurance defense experience.

• Subject matter expertise defending general liability, products liability and commercial automobile claims.

• Significant first chair jury trial experience is required.

• Prior experience managing/supervising law firm staff is a plus.
