Associate Legal Counsel

We’re excited to be hiring our first US-based Commercial Legal Counsel - marking an important milestone for our growing legal team. This will need to be someone who is New York based and will serve as our dedicated legal presence in the Americas. The rest of our established and collaborative legal team is based in London, so we're looking for someone confident and capable of working autonomously on US commercial transactions, while staying closely aligned with legal leadership.

You will be the go-to legal partner for our US Sales and Revenue teams, taking ownership of contracting matters across the Americas. This includes leading the negotiation of SaaS customer agreements and strategic partnerships. While you’ll work daily with the US business teams, your direct reporting line will be to the Head of Legal in London, requiring both independence and strong cross-border collaboration.

As a key member of a lean, high-impact team in a fast-scaling business, we’re looking for someone proactive, thoughtful, and commercially minded who is excited by the opportunity to build, partner, and grow. You’ll be expected to work on-site in our New York office at least two days a week.

• Independently manage and negotiate commercial contracts across the Americas, with a strong focus on SaaS customer agreements with enterprise and financial institution (representing ~90% of your workload), as well as supplier and partnership agreements
• Be the primary legal business partner for our Americas Sales and Revenue teams, supporting the entire contract lifecycle from RFI through to execution, while managing legal risk in a balanced, business-focused way
• Work directly and effectively with Senior Leadership, Sales, and Revenue Operations teams
• Provide clear, practical legal advice to non-legal stakeholders.
• Provide occasional support to the UK-based Head of Legal on non-commercial legal matters

Our ideal candidate has:

• Detail-oriented and highly organized.
• Comfortable being the only legal representative in the US, with regular collaboration with the UK Legal team.
• Thrive in a high-autonomy environment and enjoy taking ownership of your domain.
• Pragmatic, commercial, and solutions-oriented.
• Has at least three years of post-bar / legal experience(or similar relevant experience), with a strong background in SaaS and commercial contracts
• Has proven experience negotiating SoWs, DPAs, and commercial agreements with enterprise clients and/or financial institutions
• Understands key issues of intellectual property and data protection in the US context
• Has excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Is based in New York and available to attend the New York office at least two days a week

Bonus Points for:

• Prior in-house experience
• Experience working with SaaS technology contracts
• Familiarity with legal tech tools such as CLM’s.
