Your Role

Stockport Council has a rare and exciting opportunity to work within the Commercial Contracts Legal Team. You’ll work within a friendly and supportive team with two colleagues, in a supportive environment where your professional development will be nurtured and appreciated. You will be an integral part of our award winning Legal Team which is mad up of 50 colleagues across five different legal sub-teams, each delivering their own area of expertise.

The successful candidate will be a key and valued member of the Commercial Contracts team adding value and support to them on a day-to-day basis. You will be asked to primarily review, draft and amend commercial contracts, run your own matters, work with STAR Procurement and liaise with an advise client officers across the Council, its subsidiary companies and elected members.

You

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with the confidence to run their own matters along with a desire to learn and develop s role will be very hands on and will allow you to gain invaluable and varied experience within a large organisation whilst being autonomous with your own matters.

We pride ourselves on our supportive, friendly and flexible culture putting your wellbeing at the centre of your personal development. If appointed to this role, you will receive training and support from colleagues. The team is small and friendly and very appreciative of each member of its team. Although the team offers hybrid working, enabling colleagues to work from home or away from the civic complex for a certain proportion of their working week, we do expect our new starters to be in the office at least four days per week whilst they undertake their probation period.
