Overview

Hunters Legal is working with aTop Tier Media & Entertainment Firm who is seeking an experienced and driven Employment Associate to join its growing Employment team. The team advises employers and senior executives across the full range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters, with a particular focus on media, entertainment, technology and content-led sectors.

This role offers a broad and varied workload, including employment disputes and litigation, contract and policy drafting, HR advisory work, HR transformation projects, corporate support and outsourcing, as well as senior executive matters. The successful candidate will support senior lawyers on complex matters while also taking responsibility for leading and managing matters where appropriate.

Working with some of the world’s leading businesses in creative and technology-driven industries, the Associate will build strong client relationships, contribute to business development initiatives and play an active role in the continued growth of the Employment practice. The role includes direct client contact from day one and the opportunity to run matters with appropriate senior support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advising employers, and occasionally senior executives, on a wide range of employment law issues, including discrimination, whistleblowing, redundancies, TUPE, working time, pay and benefits, and disciplinary and grievance matters.
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating employment documentation, including contracts, policies, settlement agreements, consultancy agreements and restrictive covenants.
  • Managing or assisting with Employment Tribunal and High Court litigation, including drafting pleadings, witness statements, instructions to counsel, disclosure and case management.
  • Providing employment law support on corporate and commercial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, outsourcing arrangements and joint ventures.
  • Supporting clients through complex restructurings and workforce change programmes, including collective consultation and trade union or works council engagement.
  • Contributing to client training, legal updates and thought leadership on employment issues affecting the media, entertainment and technology sectors.
  • Supporting the supervision and development of junior lawyers and trainees.
  • Participating in business development activity, including pitches, sector events, client seminars and relationship building.
About the Candidate

The successful candidate will be a qualified solicitor in England and Wales, or equivalent, with strong experience in UK employment law. They will have experience advising employers across both contentious and non-contentious matters and be comfortable managing matters day to day with appropriate senior oversight.

The role requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, a commercial and client-focused approach, and the ability to explain complex legal issues clearly to non-lawyers. Confidence in dealing directly with HR teams, in-house counsel and senior stakeholders is essential.

An interest in media, entertainment, technology and content-driven industries is important. Experience with in these sectors is advantageous but not essential, provided there is genuine enthusiasm to develop sector knowledge.
