Adult Social Care Locum

Role: Adult Social Care Lawyer (Locum)
Location: South Yorkshire (Hybrid / Remote considered)
Rate: £55 - £60 per hour
Contract: 3-month locum
Start: January 2026

CRA Consulting is working with a large public sector organisation in South Yorkshire to recruit an experienced Adult Social Care Lawyer for an initial 3-month locum assignment, starting January 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity to step into a well-established legal team supporting frontline adult social care services, with a strong pipeline of work and a realistic caseload.

You’ll provide legal advice and case support across a broad range of adult social care matters, working closely with social care professionals and internal stakeholders to ensure lawful, proportionate and timely decision‑making.

• Advising on Care Act 2014 matters
• Handling Court of Protection applications and proceedings
• Advising on Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)
• Supporting safeguarding, ordinary residence and funding disputes
• Drafting legal advice, reports and court documentation
• Working collaboratively with social work teams and senior officers

• Qualified Solicitor, Legal Executive or Barrister
• Strong, hands‑on Adult Social Care experience (essential)
• Confident handling Court of Protection and mental capacity matters
• Previous local authority or public sector experience preferred
• Able to hit the ground running in a locum setting

• £55 - £60 per hour (umbrella / PAYE options)
• Initial 3‑month contract with potential for extension
• January 2026 start
• Hybrid or remote working considered (subject to service needs)
• Well‑supported, experienced legal team
