Adult Social Care Lawyer

CRA Consulting is working with a large, well-established public sector organisation in South Yorkshire to recruit an experienced Adult Social Care Lawyer for an initial 3-month locum assignment, starting January 2026.

This is a strong opportunity to join a supportive, experienced in-house legal team, with a realistic caseload, clear processes, and a steady pipeline of adult social care work.

You’ll provide legal advice and case support across a broad range of Adult Social Care matters, working closely with social workers, managers, and senior stakeholders to support lawful, proportionate decision‑making.

• Advising on Care Act 2014 matters
• Managing Court of Protection applications and proceedings
• Advising on Mental Capacity Act and DoLS
• Supporting safeguarding, ordinary residence, and funding disputes
• Drafting legal advice, reports, and court documentation
• Working collaboratively with social care teams and senior officers

• Qualified Solicitor, Legal Executive or Barrister
• Hands‑on Adult Social Care experience (essential)
• Confident handling Court of Protection and mental capacity matters
• Previous local authority / public sector experience preferred
• Comfortable stepping into a locum role and hitting the ground running

• £55–£60 per hour (PAYE or umbrella options available)
• Initial 3-month contract, with potential extension
• January 2026 start
• Hybrid or remote working considered (service dependent)
• Well‑structured team with experienced support
