PurposeThe Associate is responsible for handling contested and litigated matters for the Firm. Additionally, this individual will handle a portion of New York Commercial Foreclosure litigation. This person will utilize legal knowledge and experience as necessary to facilitate the litigation process on behalf of our clients in New York.
Duties & Responsibilities- Attend trials and hearings.
- Take and defend depositions.
- Travel throughout the entire state of New York as needed.
- Attend hearings, mediations, and other duties as assigned.
- Assist with other duties and special projects as needed.
- Bachelor’s Degree and a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
- Minimum of 4 years of litigation/courtroom experience; foreclosure experience a plus.
- Member of the New York Bar with all necessary licensing and continuing legal education requirements.
- Proficient in drafting pleadings, briefs, affidavits, discovery, proposed orders, and correspondence, memoranda, and opinion letters.
- Proficient with Fastcase or Westlaw.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective communication with all clients via client systems, e‑mail, and phone.
- Exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
- Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner.
- Conscientious regarding work completion, deadlines, time management, and attendance.
- Initiative in the face of obstacles and ability to act decisively.
