Lead Legal Cashier – Thomas Legal

Salary: Depending on experience.

Location: Gloucester Business Park, Gloucester

Hours: Monday – Friday 9am‑5pm (35 hours per week)

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Cashier to join our existing friendly, professional finance team. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, you will be responsible for the legal cashiering function for the group, delivering an efficient, effective and accurate service. As an experienced hands‑on legal cashier, you will manage the cashiering team to ensure smooth operation of a best‑in‑class department.

You will act as a key contact for all internal stakeholders as well as external clients, our banking partner and suppliers. You will ensure strict adherence to the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules (“SARS”) and keep the cashiering team’s knowledge and training up to date. You will also assist the Finance Manager with the month‑end close process. Although a management role, you will need to work “on rota” to cover annual leave and sickness.

You will be employed by CS Law, a service company for our Group operations. Within the group are two separate law firms, Equilaw Ltd and Thomas Legal, both of which have won numerous awards. Equilaw Ltd operates a national service within the equity release sector. Thomas Legal is a niche property law firm providing first‑class residential conveyancing service. It’s an exciting time to join the team.

Qualifications
  • A financial qualification (e.g. AAT or early‑stage CIMA or equivalent qualification) would be desirable but is not a prerequisite.
Essential Criteria
  • Previous legal finance experience.
  • Experience in supporting process change leading to standardisation and efficiency improvements in the legal cashiering environment.
  • Experience ensuring compliance with the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules.
  • Having led a successful team in a fast‑paced environment.
