Zurich Insurance is looking for a Sr. Liability Trial Attorney to join our in‑house Staff Legal team. This Trial Attorney will represent the commercial insureds of a prestigious and financially stable commercial insurance carrier by preparing and trying high‑complexity, high‑exposure General Liability and Commercial Auto personal injury cases.

The candidate will report out of Zurich’s Maitland, FL office in the Orlando area or work from home in the Tampa, FL area and will handle cases in Central Florida, Jacksonville and the Florida Panhandle. The hybrid work model emphasizes flexibility, allowing claims employees to conduct work in their preferred location while enabling in‑person connections when valuable. Occasional in‑office attendance may be required.

• Perform all aspects of insurance defense including initial investigation, legal analysis and advice, preparing and filing legal pleadings and documents.
• Conduct legal research, pre‑trial discovery, hearings and trials, and post‑trial activities.
• Provide independent management of cases, budgets, and exposure calculations.
• Use computer‑based systems for video conferencing, task assignments, and other remote team collaboration.

• Juris Doctor and 7+ years of experience in Litigation.
• Active member in good standing of the Florida State Bar.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe.
• Experience working with Lexis or Westlaw.
• Knowledge of the insurance industry, claims, and insurance defense litigation environment.

• Experience handling insurance industry claims and general commercial litigation from inception through trial, including wrongful death, commercial motor vehicle torts, product and premises liability, and personal injury.
• Strong case analysis, trial, and negotiation skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication, organization, and analytical skills.
• First‑chair jury trial experience.
• Budgeting costs and calculating exposure for clients.
• Knowledge of billables, diary review, and substantive/procedural law.
• Understanding of staff counsel function and overall business role.
• Prior experience in an insurance defense environment.
• Strong negotiation and problem‑solving skills.
• Team‑based collaboration and PC literacy.

Proposed salary range: $ – $, with short‑term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%. Your pay is based on role, location, skills, and experience. You may also be eligible for bonuses and merit increases.
