Leverage your claims experience and join our team as a Senior Litigation Specialist. This senior role leads the front‑line handling of highly complex litigated matters arising from commercial general liability, commercial liability umbrella, inland marine, and first‑party property claims. You will manage all aspects of coverage, investigation, negotiation, and resolution within company and industry best practices while collaborating with legal counsel to develop action plans that defend and resolve cases efficiently.

The position is remote, allowing you to work from home, and requires travel to our Raleigh office up to four times a year for meetings and events.

• Handle complex commercial general liability and commercial building & business personal property claims involving substantial property damages, construction defects, personal & advertising injury claims, serious bodily injury, high‑value loss of use, and other high‑exposure claims.
• Analyze and interpret insurance policies, industry standards, statutes, regulations, common law, and case law to render appropriate legal and ethical decisions.
• Attend trials, depositions, and mediations with defense counsel as needed across the entire territory.
• Direct assigned independent adjusters in investigation and settlement – interview insureds, witnesses, physicians, inspect property damage, review factual information, and prepare damage estimates; evaluate coverage, determine liability, assess claim value, negotiate settlements, and recommend litigation actions.
• Assign cases to third‑party vendors and experts to investigate compensability when uncertain.
• Make timely settlements, manage claim costs, expenses, and litigation budgets within established limits.
• Establish accurate indemnity and expense reserves, identifying fraud or abuse risks throughout the claim lifecycle.
• Prepare Large Loss and Litigation reports for executive management and reinsurers with timely updates.
• Draft and coordinate Reservation of Rights, coverage declination, and excess letters with appropriate counsel.
• Handle litigation against the company arising from claims activities, protecting interests against extracontractual and punitive damages.

• BA/BS from a regionally accredited university or equivalent education and 10‑15 years of insurance claims and litigation experience (carrier, adjusting firm, third‑party administrator, law firm).
• Adjuster license or ability to obtain a license in designated jurisdiction(s).
• Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills.
• Proven ability to read and interpret insurance policies and apply relevant case law or statutes.
• Track record of handling complex, high‑value claims and litigation.
• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% for mediations, trials, and meetings.

Location: Fort Mill, SC

Salary: $65,550.00 – $87,375.00
