Overview

Wealth Management Advisory Attorney role at Morgan Stanley. The Attorney will be a point of legal contact on a wide variety of legal issues arising in the Wealth Management business for broker/dealer field personnel, including call center personnel, Regional and Complex Management, Divisional, Regional and Complex Risk Officers, and Home Office personnel.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct legal research and draft memos.
  • Draft letters to clients on behalf of field management.
  • Negotiate and draft a variety of client-facing agreements, such as Confidentiality Agreements, Hold Harmless Agreements, and Custody Agreements.
  • Advise on investigations of senior financial exploitation and diminished capacity issues.
  • Review and advise on instances of potential employee misconduct.
  • Advise broker/dealer field and Home Office personnel on applicable law and regulatory policy, including FINRA and SEC rules.
  • Advise on unique transactions and strategic initiatives.
  • Assist Compliance and Operations in drafting and developing Firm policies and procedures.
  • Negotiate and draft modifications to Firm documents and forms.
  • Handle special projects as needed.
  • After six months of in-office employment in good standing, in-office attendance is required at least 3 days per week.
Location

This role is based in Dallas. If a candidate is based in the New York area, we may be able to start in New York, but relocation to Dallas would be required after a few months.

Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
  • Approximately 6 years of relevant experience to develop the required skills for this role.
Skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to learn quickly and multi-task in a fast-paced environment; experience in a multi-disciplinary background.
Preferred
  • Prior Securities Industry experience.
  • Prior litigation experience.
Compensation and About Morgan Stanley

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $ and $ per year at the start of employment. Base pay is determined on an individualized basis and is part of total compensation, which may include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, and other benefits.
