Associate Attorney (Southern California)
ICW Group is inviting candidates to join as an Associate Litigation Attorney in Southern California. This role is part of our long‑standing mission to transform the insurance carrier space and deliver the best insurance experience.
Job SummaryThe Associate Litigation Attorney will manage workers’ compensation cases of varying complexity, provide litigation and claims legal advice, and work under the direction of a managing attorney to handle high‑quality case work. This position involves independently managing a caseload of litigated claims files to deliver optimal results for ICW Group.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Provide litigation services and handle all aspects of assigned workers’ compensation matters.
- Collaborate closely with experienced attorneys on research, drafting, litigation support, and client counseling.
- Develop legal strategies for litigation of claims cases.
- Conduct legal research and analysis on complex issues.
- Draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, contracts, and memoranda.
- Assist with case preparation for hearings, trials, and depositions.
- Collaborate with internal business partners and senior attorneys on strategy and case management.
- Manage an assigned caseload to meet deadlines.
- Ensure timely filing of pleadings and other documents with the court or administrative boards.
- Provide effective, timely communications, legal advice, and other services to clients and claims professionals.
- Participate in court proceedings and meet with clients as needed.
- Keep current with applicable laws and regulations.
- Adhere to ICW Group policies, procedures, and the California Rules of Professional Conduct.
- Build and foster client relationships with a customer‑centric focus.
This role does not have direct supervisory responsibilities. It may direct the work of support staff (assists, paralegals) in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
Education And ExperienceBachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university and a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited institution are required. Prior experience as a law clerk within workers’ compensation, underwriting, a law firm, or related industry is highly desired.
Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsLicensed and in good standing with the State Bar of California; no history of public or private reprisals.
Knowledge And Skills- Proficient use of a personal computer; experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe, and PowerPoint.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to define legal issues, gather data, establish facts, draw conclusions, and implement strategic resolutions.
- Basic understanding of workers’ compensation administrative rules, procedures, laws, and statutes preferred.
- Excellent time‑management skills; ability to delegate activities and manage multiple priorities.
Home office environment – no specific or unusual demands. Employees regularly sit, walk, stand, talk, and hear.
Work EnvironmentRemote court environment requiring frequent computer and telephone use. Travel to various court locations and other business locations may be required.

CompensationThe salary range for this position is $90,559.93 – $, exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Final base salary will be determined by individual experience, education, and role location.
