Senior Staff Attorney Insurance Defense

The Hartford – Senior Staff Attorney, Insurance Defense (Remote). The position is fully remote and requires location in the State of Florida.

Overview

We are a dedicated insurance company seeking a seasoned attorney to provide litigation defense for Auto and General Liability cases. You will work with claim centers and insureds to deliver best results.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze complex legal issues with extensive research.
  • Develop and present defense strategies from inception to trial.
  • Prepare pleadings, discovery, motions, and briefs.
  • Provide timely legal advice and services.
  • Communicate professionally with courts, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel.
  • Participate in claims file reviews.
  • Conduct trials, depositions, arbitration, and mediations independently.
  • Attend continuing legal education to maintain proficiency.
Qualifications
  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and Florida license required.
  • Minimum 7 years of bodily injury claims experience with proven trial expertise.
  • First chair jury trial experience preferred, not required.
  • Expertise in legal research and motion practice.
  • Positive, collaborative team‑player attitude.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office;
    Lexis Nexis experience is a plus.
  • Self‑directed with strong organizational and prioritization skills.
Additional Details
  • Remote work from home in Florida.
  • 10–15% travel within Florida for court and file appearances.
Compensation

Annualized base pay range: $128,000 – $192,000. Pay may vary based on performance and other factors. Total compensation includes bonuses, incentives, and recognition.
