Catholic Charities of Central Colorado is seeking a fully bilingual Spanish‑English Interpreter and Translator to provide professional legal and immigration interpretation and translation services for its Family Immigration Services (FIS) program.
This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity for an experienced freelance Spanish interpreter/translator located in Colorado. Work is project‑based and scheduled upon request, typically 2–6 hours per week, with fluctuations between 0–20 hours depending on case needs and contractor availability.
Responsibilities- Provide accurate, complete Spanish‑English spoken interpretation in immigration and legal settings.
- Deliver high‑quality written translations preserving meaning, tone, and intent.
- Sign certification of translation accuracy.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and attorney‑client privilege.
- Request clarification when necessary to ensure precision.
- Full professional fluency in Spanish and English (oral and written).
- Experience in legal, immigration, or court interpretation/translation.
- Knowledge of immigration and legal terminology preferred.
- Professional interpreter/translator certification a plus.
- Must reside in Colorado.
- Secure home office setup for remote assignments (print/scan/mail capability).
- Pay rate: $41 per hour.
- As‑needed hours (0–20 weekly).
- No benefits provided.
- This position is an independent contractor role. The contractor is not an employee of Catholic Charities of Central Colorado and is responsible for managing their own schedule, taxes, and business obligations in accordance with applicable laws.
- The contractor may provide services to other clients and retains control over the manner and means of performing interpretation and translation services.
- Opportunity for remote or on‑site work, with a preference for on‑site spoken language interpretation.
