What is the job about?
Grundfos Canada is seeking a bilingual (English & French) Application Specialist/Engineer to join our CSSC (Customer Sales Support Centre) team and serve our CBS (Commercial Building Services) customers. As an Application Specialist, you will provide timely and effective technical advice to incoming inquiries, deliver world‑class customer service across telephone, e‑mail, live chat, instant messaging, and face‑to‑face, and support sales teams by handling tenders and project calculations.
You will work on a hybrid schedule out of our Oakville, ON office and report to the CSSC Manager.
Your main responsibilities
Provide commercial and technical assistance to customers through various channels regarding product sizing, applications, system solutions, accessories, installations, and pricing.
Support sales teams by handling tenders and projects, providing dimensions, specifications, calculations, delivery times, and operation‑maintenance solutions.
Manage, coordinate, and administer low‑ to medium‑complexity project and service proposals from Bid/No Bid approval through to submission, including negotiations with the appropriate Manager/Director.
Ensure a smooth handover of successful proposals to the project delivery team.
Follow up on customer interactions within set Service Level Agreements (SLA).
Process special orders and inquiries in coordination with suppliers.
Provide first‑contact resolution on inquiries and decide on subsequent processing of business transactions based on defined processes.
Offer pumping and system troubleshooting support to customers.
Provide standard pricing, quotations, delivery information, and support order entry.
Communicate, collaborate, and provide support related to the product segment or third‑party suppliers when local problem‑solving is unavailable.
Assist and coordinate technical training for front‑line staff.
Promote digital tools to customers using templates (GPC, GXS, MyGrundfos, Extranet, Chat).
Your background
Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience (3‑5 years).
Ability to communicate in French and English (speaking, reading, and writing).
2+ years of experience in a similar position, including opportunity and quotation management with a technical background in pumps, HVAC, engineered‑to‑order, or building management systems.
Fundamental product and application knowledge—interpreting type keys, distinguishing pumps from spare parts, kits from motors, and identifying product origins.
Excellent communication and networking skills, with the ability to build trust with internal and external stakeholders.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office; experience using SAP (CRM/SD) is beneficial.
Prior customer‑services experience and organizational, administrative, and accountability skills.
Understanding of business structure, products, and key market needs to create a customer‑centric experience.
Ability to prioritize and complete tasks to deliver desired outcomes within allotted time frames.
Experience delivering projects in technically complex and diverse environments on time, cost, and quality.
Skill in engaging diverse stakeholder groups in difficult and complex situations.
Relocation for this position cannot be supported; qualified candidates must have authorization to work in Canada without support.
