Contract/Freelance Project Description

United Language Group is seeking fluent bilingual speakers as Independent Contractors for on-demand and pre-scheduled over-the-phone interpretations for Romanian. The Interpreter must have a strong command of English and Romanian and must follow the professional Code of Ethics as outlined by IMIA and NCIHC.

• Interpret between English and Romanian languages.
• Maintain the appropriate tone of voice, register and observe cultural nuances.
• Maintain professionalism through attitude, and interpreting service.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
• Must have a reliable phone line and an adequate work environment to process the calls.
• Remote (work-from-home).

• Proficient in English and Romanian languages.
• Strong knowledge of professional Code of Ethics and privacy laws (HIPAA).
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to remain calm and compassionate when dealing with difficult people and crisis situations.
• Flexible availability.

• NBCMI or CCHI certification is preferred.
• Completion of a healthcare interpretation program or at least 2 years of consistent medical interpretation experience.
• Minimum six months of experience in over-the-phone interpretation.
