Position Overview: The Georgian Video-Telephone Interpreter handles calls on demand and renders conversations between Georgian and English speakers. The interpreter works across industries served by Language Line Solutions, including Healthcare, Government, Insurance, Financial, Utilities, Travel & Hospitality, General Business, Law Enforcement, Court, and 911. The interpreter processes information quickly and succinctly, recognizing cultural differences. Sessions may involve simple or complex, technical or non-technical subjects.
This position does not involve written translation; translators and other skilled linguists are encouraged to apply. The interpreter translates verbally. This is a remote position; the interpreter works from a home office and must ensure a quiet, secure environment.
Essential Job Functions:
- Respond to video and audio interpreting sessions promptly and conduct interpretation in a friendly and professional manner.
- Participate in online, video, and audio training sessions.
- Deliver interpretation services via video and transcribe data on a dedicated device (laptop, desktop, mobile, or tablet) to perform essential job functions.
- Render correct concepts and meanings according to established interpretation protocol, avoiding omissions or additions.
- Speak clearly in both languages with proper pronunciation and polite expressions.
- Maintain a professional demeanor throughout sessions.
- Remain calm during sessions when speakers are incoherent or upset, especially in emergency situations such as 911 calls.
- Maintain punctuality and availability during scheduled work hours.
- Follow client instructions and compliance with protocol to meet client expectations with LEP, avoiding interaction with LEP without client permission.
- Understand protocol and terminology for various industries including Medical, Insurance, Finance, and Law.
- Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity and working in a diverse environment.
- Some calls may be highly emotional or stressful. The interpreter may need to remain on a call for extended periods and handle high call volumes while meeting service standards.
- Fluency in Georgian and English, with knowledge of associated cultural dynamics.
- Ability to provide cultural competency and assess regional and accent differences to communicate with LEP.
- Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills to maintain high accuracy.
- Ability to concentrate, stay neutral and objective on calls involving sensitive subjects.
- Education or work experience in language-related fields is preferred.
- Ability to adapt to Language Line technology enhancements.
