Canada-Wide Freelance Interpreter (English/Ateso) — MCIS Language Solutions

As a freelance interpreter with MCIS Language Solutions, you will provide essential spoken interpretation services in community settings to facilitate clear and accurate communication between English and Ateso speakers. You will help individuals with limited language proficiency access vital services.

• Interpretation:
  Provide accurate, clear, and professional interpretation between English and Ateso in community settings, including high-pressure environments such as healthcare and legal contexts.
• Cultural Sensitivity:
  Demonstrate cultural awareness and faithfully convey meaning and tone while respecting cultural nuances.
• Reading and Oral Translation:
  Read and orally translate written materials as needed (e.g., application forms, medical records, legal documents).
• Facilitating Access to Services:
  Help vulnerable populations navigate healthcare, law enforcement, social services, and other systems.
• Travel:
  Travel to assignment locations as required; access via car, public transportation, or other means. Flexibility in location and schedule.
• Remote Assignments:
  Perform over-the-phone or video interpretations when required, enabling remote work.
• Professionalism and Confidentiality:
  Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in sensitive contexts.

• Fluency in English and Ateso (both written and spoken).
• Reading Proficiency:
  Ability to read and interpret written documents and translate into clear oral communication.
• Soft Skills:
  
  Empathy, patience, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to build rapport with diverse communities.
• Transportation:
  Ability to travel to different locations as needed; reliable transportation.
• Legal Eligibility:
  Legally entitled to work in Canada.

• Training: MCIS provides a free online training module to prepare you for assignments, which must be completed before starting.
• Experience:
  
  Applications welcome from interpreters who are certified/tested in community interpreting.

• Job Type: Part-time, Casual, Freelance
• Salary: CA $20.00–CA $25.00 per hour (based on experience and assignment type)
