Merchants Insurance Group is a leading Property and Casualty Insurer in the Northeast and is looking for a Property Claim Adjuster to join our Corporate Claims team located in Buffalo, New York.

Hybrid Work Schedule

Merchants offers a hybrid work schedule that requires 2 full days per week in the office, with the option to work the remaining days at home or in the office.

The Property Claim Adjuster will become part of a dedicated claims team focusing on Commercial Property claims. This position interacts extensively with home office technical managers, internal colleagues as well as policyholders, agents, attorneys, appraisers, and a multitude of claim-related service providers.

• Cultivating relationships with claims and other internal staff, policyholders, attorneys, agents and a variety of service providers and experts all while working towards achieving the most optimal outcomes for Merchants and our policyholders.
• Investigating coverage and liability damages.
• Providing a high level of customer service.
• Conducting and directing timely and quality claim investigations, evaluations and equitable settlements of all assigned claims.
• Ensuring timely and accurate reserves consistent with established reserving philosophy and practices.

• A minimum of 2 years claims experience handling Commercial Property claims.
• Skilled negotiator, capable of formulating strategy and action plans for files.
• State adjusters license (or ability to obtain).
• Professional designations or working towards industry specific designations are a plus.
• Exceptional organizational, time management, desk management, communication and negotiation skills are required.

The estimated salary for this role ranges from $62,353 to $75,000 based on leveling and geography, along with an equity component and a comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation may deviate from this range based on skills, experience and qualifications.
