Associate Underwriter

We are currently seeking a motivated and well-organized Associate Underwriter to support the acquisition and retention of profitable commercial lines customers for our Florida Region.

What you will do:

• Assist with gathering underwriting information on renewal and new business accounts and works with agency to obtain missing information.
• Approve, modify or decline all transactions (MVR, audit changes, endorsements, etc.) within assigned authority level
• Review all endorsement requests and gather missing information. Approve and provide issuance instructions within designated authority. Refer endorsement requests outside designated authority to UW.
• Handle the renewal underwriting of less complex accounts based on authority levels and assigned premium thresholds.
• Prepare the appropriate underwriting file documentation on accounts within authority, supporting the UW in documentation outside of authority.

The position will be located in our corporate office in Sarasota, FL or Lake Mary, FL office with the ability work a hybrid schedule (3 days in office; 2 remote).

The salary range for this position is $24.80-$38.19 hourly. This salary range is an estimate and the actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

• Two years of relevant commercial underwriting experience.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and move easily from one project to another when circumstances warrant
• Knowledge of all commercial property & casualty forms and coverages, rating rules, and underwriting and loss control principles and concepts
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills

• Knowledge of the independent agency system is preferred
