Location note: Athens program offices are open Monday–Friday 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. local time. The Auto Team Lead supports P&C and works with limited supervision; remote work may be allowed based on office locations and technical requirements.
Position SummaryAthens Administrators has an immediate need for a full-time Auto Team Lead to support our Property & Casualty department. Employees who live within 26 miles of Concord, CA, Orange, CA, San Antonio, TX, or Lake Mary, FL offices are required to work once a week in the office. The remaining days may be remote if the technical requirements are met and the employee resides in a state Athens operates in.
Athens Program Insurance Services focuses on commercial business specialization across multiple coverage lines. This role is in the Auto unit and involves oversight of high exposure auto physical damage claims, technical guidance, coaching, and supporting recruiting for the Auto Claims unit. This is not a supervisory position.
Position ResponsibilitiesPrimary Responsibilities
- Advanced knowledge in claims handling concepts, practices, and techniques, including coverage issues and product lines; knowledge of law and insurance regulations; strong verbal/written communications; analytical, decision-making, and negotiation skills.
- Investigate coverage and evaluate insurance coverage problems and disputes.
- Investigate, evaluate, and determine settlement value or denial of liability for all claims.
- Develop damages measures, establish and maintain reserves.
- Document and manage claims from inception to closure; ensure appropriateness of all payments.
- Negotiate settlements within individual authority ($50,000 unless otherwise noted).
- Maintain and update action plans for each claim; may coordinate with vendors, legal counsel, appraisers, or experts.
- Facilitate communication between claimants, clients, brokers, and attorneys; exchange information with clients, claimants, brokers, inspectors, producers, and account managers.
- Provide customer service and support to insureds and claimants; attend meetings and educational seminars for professional development.
- Team Lead Tasks
- Provide support to supervisor with oversight and claims quality of Auto Examiner positions within Property & Casualty.
- Coordinate training, assist in recruitment, and participate in client and internal meetings.
- Make daily claims decisions regarding plan of action and dispute resolution; review files for accuracy; run client/staff trend reports.
- Approve payments and reserve increases within authority; collaborate with senior management and client contacts.
- Ensure consistent and accurate claims coding; adherence to client instructions and best practices; identify adverse trends and assist in technical training.
- Provide customer service to clients and claimants, including handling escalation calls; conduct audits and mock file reviews; provide mentorship for developing employees.
- Handle special projects and ensure data integrity via daily/weekly/monthly reviews.
Position Requirements
