Executive Underwriter or AVP, UW Director - Financial Institution. Zurich North America is hiring an experienced Financial Institutions Executive Underwriter or AVP Underwriting Director in Chicago.

• As a Financial Institutions Underwriter, handle complex new and renewal domestic Middle Market and National accounts for all Financial Institutions industry verticals and lines of coverage offered.
• Serve as a customer industry advocate with a focus on improving the customer experience by understanding their risk and offering the best end to end solution for their insurance needs, specifically within Financial Lines for Financial Institutions, including D&O, E&O, EPL, Fiduciary, and Fidelity lines of coverage.
• Use a disciplined approach to exposure evaluation, risk assessment and pricing.
• Use risk insights, data and models to drive informed decisions at point of sale.
• Identify gaps and align Zurich’s products and value proposition to offer a solution that provides the contract certainty the customer needs.
• Demonstrate strong analytical skills and act as an innovative advisor.
• Underwrite, analyze and generate new and renewal business.
• Market facing and production within the growing International division.
• Administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations, and rating manual rules.
• Develop and maintain agency and broker relationships.
• Work within broad limits and authorities on highly complex assignments.

Executive Underwriter Basic Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims, Underwriting support area OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area AND
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business
• Experience with Umbrella underwriting

AVP Underwriting Director:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 12 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area AND
• Experience with Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications for both:

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Your pay at Zurich is based on your role, location, skills, and experience. We follow local laws to ensure fair compensation. You may also be eligible for bonuses and merit increases. The combined salary range for this position is $ - $. The proposed salary range for the Executive Underwriter is $ - $, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%.

The proposed salary range for the AVP, UW Director is $ - $, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 20%.
