Senior Middle Market Production Underwriter

Our client, a highly rated national insurance carrier, is expanding their underwriting organization and is seeking an experienced Senior Middle Market Production Underwriter. This role will focus on underwriting and growing a Middle Market Commercial portfolio through strong agency partnerships, sound risk selection, and disciplined pricing. The ideal candidate will balance production and profitability while managing an assigned territory. This position is 100% remote.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive new Middle Market Commercial production by evaluating, underwriting, and pricing risks within assigned authority and guidelines.
• Assess exposures, coverage structures, pricing adequacy, and terms to support profitable underwriting outcomes.
• Review and interpret financial statements, operational details, and loss experience to determine risk acceptability.
• Partner closely with agency producers to generate new opportunities, manage renewals, and expand existing relationships.
• Support agency engagement through regular outreach and visits focused on growth, retention, and portfolio performance.
• Oversee and manage a book of business while meeting production goals, retention benchmarks, and loss ratio expectations.
• Stay informed on market conditions and competitive activity to identify opportunities while maintaining underwriting discipline.

Qualifications:

• 3 - 10+ years of experience underwriting Middle Market Commercial insurance.
• Strong knowledge of commercial coverages, pricing, and risk evaluation.
• Proven ability to manage a profitable book of business and work collaboratively with producers.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills.

Salary & Benefits:

• $140,000 - $190,000+ annual base salary, plus a competitive performance-based bonus
