The Amwins Underwriter L.A.U.N.C.H Program is an education and training program hosted by the Amwins Underwriting division. Participants will take part in an intensive three-month training to gain a deep knowledge of the insurance industry, underwriting practices, and the Amwins organization. This program helps candidates develop a variety of professional skills while providing opportunities to network across multiple facets of the organization.

For a highly motivated individual, the education and exposure in this program will support a candidate’s desire to excel in his or her underwriting career.

The training program will be hosted in Charlotte, NC, where Amwins is based. Participants will be provided housing during the three-month training. After training in Charlotte, the participant will relocate to Farmington, CT to work with Amwins Program Underwriters. Participants will be expected to travel two to three times a year to Charlotte, NC, or other Amwins offices for additional training over the next few years.

Amwins Program Underwriters (APU) is a managing general agency (MGA) specializing in affinity and program management. For more than 40 years, APU has developed and maintained programs for a variety of niche markets that provide broad-based property and casualty coverage. Today, APU’s 200+ employees manage more than 40 insurance programs generating premiums in excess of $690 million.

Upon graduation of the three-month program, the candidate will move into an entry-level underwriting support role within Amwins Program Underwriters. Duties will include:

  • Support lead underwriter by gathering account information to rate, quote and bind policies
  • Maintain and manage account documentation and files
  • Communicates with clients and internal departments to gather information, provide updates, and resolve issues and inquiries
  • Rate new or renewal quotes as directed by underwriter
  • Monitor various reports for consistency
  • Provide administrative support and other related services as needed (e.g., input account information into the system)
  • Travel as needed

Pursuant to Connecticut regulation, the compensation range for this position is as stated and includes eligibility for performance-based bonuses.

Connecticut Pay Range: $60,000 USD - $65,000 USD
