The Senior Surety Underwriting Assistant will be responsible for assisting and supporting the surety underwriting team in the acquisition and retention of profitable business. Provides timely and quality service to agents and internal customers.
What you will do:
- Provide administrative support for contract and commercial Surety new business and renewals.
- Review correspondence, records and reports and send to underwriter for evaluation.
- Send contract bond status reports and manage contract bond closeouts as defined in the status update contract closeout process.
- Process standard renewals, rush requests and issue bonds and riders within assigned authority level.
- Determine and perform rating calculations based on company manuals.
- Ensure proper documentation exist in underwriting file and is entered in surety system.
This role will be based in our Home Office in Sarasota, FL and is eligible for a hybrid schedule (3 days in-office, 2 days remote).

The salary range for this position is $51,588-$79,443 annually. This salary range is an estimate and the actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Required* High school diploma or equivalent
* Four years of relevant surety experience.
* Strong skills in Microsoft Office products.
* Strong working knowledge of all surety coverages, rating rules, underwriting and loss control principles, guidelines and concepts.
* Advanced understanding of surety forms, insurance and surety terminology.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, interpersonal and organizational skills.
* Ability to analyze, define and solve problems; the use of good judgement and decision-making.
* Ability to determine customer needs and provide solutions.
