Senior Underwriter / Underwriting Specialist – Direct Markets Retail
Zurich North America is seeking a Senior Underwriter or Underwriting Specialist to support our Direct Markets business. The position is based in Overland Park, KS and offers hybrid remote working.
Responsibilities- Comply with underwriting rules, insurance laws, rating manual rules, and company guidelines.
- Underwrite and analyze properties and casualty policies using the Zurich Way of Underwriting Framework within delegated authority levels.
- Provide superior service to broker partners and customers.
- Work within broad limits and authorities on complex underwriting assignments.
- Contribute to product/proposition development, fulfillment, and portfolio management.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- For Senior Underwriter: 1 year in insurance or market facing role, or 2 years in claims or underwriting support with knowledge of the insurance industry and legal/regulatory environment.
- For Underwriting Specialist: 3 years in underwriting or market facing, or 6 years in claims or underwriting support, or a Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with relevant experience>
- Knowledge of business line regulations, time restraints for quotes, and basic Microsoft Office skills.
- Bachelor’s Degree with at least 1 year in underwriting.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Salary range: $59,900.00 – $. Bonus eligibility: 10% short‑term incentive.
