Executive Large Property Underwriter or AVP, Director Large Property Underwriter

ZURICH North America is seeking an experienced Executive Large Property Underwriter or AVP, Director Large Property Underwriter to join our National Large Property team in the Los Angeles office. The position may be based at our San Francisco or Denver offices and is available on a hybrid basis.

Within this role you will be required to be visible in the marketplace, meet with agents and brokers, and be present in the office or market three days per week.

This position will be filled at either the Executive level or the AVP, Director level. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based on your experience and qualifications.

• Administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations, and rating annual rules.
• Develop, maintain & collaborate with Line of Business representatives on referrals and other business-related needs as appropriate.
• May provide guidance to lower-level associates.
• Develop and maintain relationships with distributors (agents & brokers) to support retention and acquisition, working with customers and distributors to determine their insurance-related needs and provide solutions.
• Support the sales culture by being a Help Point for agents, brokers and customers.
• Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities.
• Complete detailed opportunity assessments with key distributors to identify growth opportunities.
• Qualify accounts to meet the organization’s appetite while balancing sound business opportunity.
• Make broker/customer and on-site calls with a well-prepared purpose.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area AND
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
• Experience working in a team environment.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 12 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area AND
• Experience with Microsoft Office.

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Technical knowledge of Large Property Underwriting.
• Established broker relationships (retail brokers) within the Western US region.
• Sales execution mindset.
• Creative problem solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Your pay at Zurich is based on your role, location, skills, and experience. You may also be eligible for bonuses and merit increases. The salary range for this position is $98,300.00 – $. The Director level range is $98,300.00 – $ (15% short-term incentive). The Executive/AVP level range is $ – $ (20% short-term incentive).
