Underwriting Specialist – Management Liability

Join Zurich North America as an Underwriting Specialist or Executive Underwriter focusing on Management Liability products including Directors & Officers, Employment Practices Liability, Fiduciary Liability and Crime Insurance for private and non‑profit companies. The role is based in San Francisco, CA with hybrid remote work options.

• Administer and monitor underwriting rules, rating manual rules, and insurance laws and regulations.
• Develop and maintain relationships with distributors (agents & brokers) to support business retention and acquisition.
• Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities and identify growth opportunities by assessing customers’ insurance needs.
• Support the organization’s sales culture by serving as a help point for agents, brokers, and customers.
• Complete detailed opportunity assessments with key distributors to identify growth opportunities.
• Qualify accounts to align with the organization’s appetite and business opportunity.
• Make broker/customer and on‑site calls with a planned and well‑prepared purpose.
• Mentor team members.

Underwriting Specialist:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and ≥3 years of experience in underwriting or market‑facing activities.
• Or High School Diploma or Equivalent and ≥6 years of experience in claims or underwriting support.
• Or Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an associate degree and ≥1 year of experience in underwriting or market‑facing activities.
• Or Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an associate degree and ≥4 years of experience in claims or underwriting support.
• Knowledge of line(s) of business and regulatory guidelines.
• Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
• Experience with Microsoft Office.

Executive Underwriter:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and ≥5 years of experience in underwriting or market‑facing activities.
• Or High School Diploma or Equivalent and ≥10 years of experience in claims or underwriting support.
• Or Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an associate degree and ≥3 years of experience in underwriting or market‑facing activities.
• Or Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an associate degree and ≥8 years of experience in claims or underwriting support.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
• Experience working in a team environment.

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong relationship building skills.

Combined salary range: $96,600.00 – $. Underwriting Specialist range: $96,600.00 – $ (10% short‑term incentive). Executive Underwriter range: $ – $ (15% short‑term incentive).
