Join The Hartford as a P&C Middle Market Center Sales Underwriter and shape the future of insurance. This role is part of the Underwriting team where you will collaborate with brokers and agents to deliver innovative pricing solutions.

• Underwrite and actively pursue new business pricing, servicing brokerage partners on a case‑by‑case basis.
• Analyze agency book on a quarter‑to‑quarter basis for potential action.
• Apply all applicable underwriting guidelines when making decisions.
• Underwrite highly complex business with limited support and infrequent referral activity.
• Maintain thorough knowledge of laws, regulations, and governance.
• Manage agency relationships, creating and executing strategies for new and renewal accounts.
• Act as a trusted advisor and solution provider to brokers and agents.

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training and carrier underwriting experience.
• 2+ years of P&C Middle Market Carrier underwriting experience preferred.
• Demonstrated success building solid relationships with internal and external partners.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Analytical thinking, ability to make recommendations and propose solutions.
• High‑energy self‑starter who is resilient and entrepreneurial.
• Strong time, organizational, and desk management skills.
• Goal‑oriented and delivers outcomes.

• Superior technical knowledge and sound decision‑making skills.

• Valid driver's license required for required business travel.

This role can have a hybrid or remote work schedule. Candidates living near an office (Greenwood Village, CO; Scottsdale, AZ; Walnut Creek, CA) are expected to work in office 3 days a week (Tuesday‑Thursday). Candidates outside these areas may work remotely with occasional office visits.

The annualized base pay range for this role is $66,800 – $142,800. Compensation may vary based on performance, proficiency, and demonstrated competencies. Total compensation may include bonuses, long‑term incentives, and recognition programs.
