Zurich North America is looking for a Contract Surety Underwriter to oversee a large account contract space. The position is highly technical, market‑facing, and requires expertise in Surety lines of business. The role requires approximately 20% travel and is open to candidates located in the East region, with a preference for Chicago. Eligible locations include Atlanta, Dallas, Florida Virtual, Ft. Lauderdale, Georgia Virtual, Houston, Kansas Virtual, Miami, Overland Park, Texas Virtual, and others as listed below.

• Production and underwriting of new and renewal Surety business
• Managing a large book of prominent accounts
• Internal marketing and production within Zurich North America to support cross‑sell efforts
• Execution of the external marketing strategy
• Adherence to underwriting rules, guidelines, insurance laws, regulations, and the Zurich Way
• Establishing and developing agency and broker relationships
• Working within limits and authorities on assignments of varying complexity

• High School Diploma or Equivalent with 5+ years in underwriting or market‑facing area, OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent with 10+ years in claims or underwriting support, OR
• Zurich‑approved Apprenticeship program with associate degree and 3+ years in underwriting/market‑facing area, OR
• Zurich‑approved Apprenticeship program with associate degree and 8+ years in claims or underwriting support
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business
• Experience working in a team environment

• High School Diploma or Equivalent with 7+ years in underwriting or market‑facing area, OR
immersion
• High School Diploma or Equivalent with 14+ years in claims or underwriting support, OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with associate degree and 5+ years in underwriting or market‑facing area, OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with associate degree and 12+ years in claims or underwriting support
• Experience with Microsoft Office

The combined salary range for this position is $98,500.00–$. For the Executive Underwriter the range is $98,500.00–$, with a short‑term incentive bonus eligibility of 15%. For the AVP, Underwriting Director the range is $–$, with short‑term incentive bonus eligibility of 20%.
